Hey Everybody!

The work right now is just crazy good! So much work but it is so worth it! We have a baptism on Saturday for Nana Yaa and she is from Ghana! She has awesome faith and she really knows the Bible well and has loved the Book Of Mormon. She is an awesome lady! Also, the Wilson Family is being baptized on the 22 of February. They are from Pakistan and the two sons were baptized there but the dad, mom and daughter all want to get baptized now! They are such funny people and they are working on there English. :) They speak Urdu. Eddie is being baptized on the1st of March and he is still searching for his answer about the Book Of Mormon and Joseph Smith. He loves church and the people and he loves to study the gospel. He is 21 years old and he went to a Christian college called Liberty. When he was there, he did not feel like it was right and he did not like the choice that the other kids were making so he left. He just wants to know its true but he knows he will :)

Also, we found this lady who told us she was baptized when she was 11 in Woodbridge and she just lost contact with the church when she left. We told her where it was and she has come for the last 4 weeks! Also her two children, one is 12 her name is Asia and the other is 10, his name is Damon are being baptized on the first of March as well! I am so excited for all these people and the other people we are working with as well!

When I came to this area, I promised myself I would work harder than ever, study harder than ever and be the best I could be. The Lord has blessed me with all this hard work and placed people in my path. It is incredible. It is not always easy but He will always provide a way when we ask in faith. President Riggs challenged us to baptize transferly, so every 6 weeks. And it looks like we just might exceed that which makes me happy. All those cold bike rides in the rain or snow are totally worth it.

I love you Dad it was good to hear from you. I enjoy the advice and really do use it every day! The work here is just great and I could not be any happier! Have a good week and let me know what is going on!

 Elder Porter
P-day Pancake Eating Contest

Hey Everybody!

I heard the football games this past week were pretty good. It seems weird that I am missing all of it and it is not that big of a deal. I always thought it would be hard but it has been pretty easy. I hope the Super Bowl turns out to be a good game.

Well, this week was incredible!  I don't know how else to say it. We are on fire. We found 7 new investigators, taught 8 lessons, had 8 of our investigators at church, had 6 less active members at church, put 4 people on date to be baptized and we found a new investigator yesterday. I feel like nothing can slow us down.  Not the snow or anything else.  It is a fun time to be a missionary and to see the work hasten. Hard work pays off; there is no doubt about it.

It sounds like everything is getting back to post-holiday normal and that everyone is doing well.  Our mission goal is 20 lessons, including investigators, less actives, and members. We have been close to that every week since I have been here. President Riggs was telling me that there is a lot of good things here in our area and that he has been so impressed with the work, which has been awesome.  I could not be more happy!

How is work going for you? How is Aunt Kelli doing and what have you heard about Youth Olympics? I miss that more than anything! Which is funny and sad at the same time.  Oh well, that is all from me here. I am excited to see what the next 6 months bring.  Thanks for the updates!  Have a good week and be safe. Love you Dad.

Hey Family and Friends,

Life is sounding pretty good back home huh? The golfing, the holidays, and work sounds like it is moving around. Well if you have any questions about the northern Virginia area, let me know and I am sure I could guide you around! :)

Yesterday at church, we had 1 of our investigators and a less active family come to church and the week before we had 5 investigators at church and 4 less actives there! How great is that? This is a great area to find people who are ready to receive the gospel in there lives. It is an exciting area and there has already been a lot of success since I have been here which is great!

Yeah 5 months already can you believe that? I am not sure if that is super slow or super fast. Either way I have enjoyed my time and the lessons and skills I have learned. One of our investigators is super cool. He is a 21 year old guy who had been going to Liberty, which is a Christian school but he did not feel like it was right for him and is going to transfer schools. He really asks good questions and loves to learn. He is a super solid guy and I am excited to see what happens.

The bikes can get pretty cold I must say. It could be a lot worse but I take it and deal with it. I have learned on the mission that you have to roll with the things you are given and just work harder through those challenges. Then the great blessings start to flow and you can grow even more. I love this work and the people I have met here. This is where I was supposed to serve. I hope you have a good week and thanks for all encouragement. I love your advice and I use it all the time.

Love you,
